SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Army today organised a pathbreaking seminar in coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and J&K Bank in Hyderbeigh area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the event was organised at the Hyderbeig based Army Garrison to help the youth gain self reliance by obtaining lifelong skills and introducing them to financial opportunities.
“This is a pioneer project taken up by Army as a part of its initiatives with the aim of benefiting the unemployed youth especially the under graduates and that particular section of the society which has been deprived of the mainstream activities due to lack of education and weak economic condition,” he said.
JKEDI with its ventures on Entrepreneurship through skill development aims to eradicate unemployment so that people in the age group of 18 to 37 years and with minimum education qualification of 8th standard onwards, earn their livelihood with honour & dignity, only to pursue their dreams of a bright future, the spokesman said.
“This innovative initiative by Army provided a unique platform for a large section of unemployed but capable hands to learn about entrepreneurship and improve their socio-economic condition. District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, Baramulla educated the huge gathering of over 600 eager and enthusiastic youth and men about the various schemes offered by the government through their institute,” he said.
The J&K Bank representatives informed the gathering on the wide array of start-up loans available to start small business ventures without any guarantee or mortgage, the defence spokesman said.
