Reservation in promotions

Sir,
This is apropos the issue of reservation in promotions. It appears as if the politicians in India have developed a unique perception and rigid opinion about reservation as a panacea which can resolve all the discrimination, social inequality and economic backwardness. In fact the provision of reservation was devised and driven to practice as a temporary prop to abridge the huge gap between the social and economic status of the Haves and Haven’ts. It should be tackled carefully in the sense that prolonged hanging on to it would most likely trigger two negative ramifications :-
* It will not empower the upcoming generation of so called upper or lower castes to build up self-confidence and self-reliance based on their inherent faculties and entrepreneurship but end up into building a parasite mentality.
* It would further widen and aggravate the social divide amongst the various caste groups to the detriment of social cohesion and comprehensive dissolution of remnants of caste discord.
The political class ruling and the opposition both are considered to be enlightened enough to propel the national ship in the inclement weather of socio economic upheavals but in the given circumstances they appear to have developed a vested interest to grind their own  axe in the green pasture of vote politics at the cost of the nation. Israel, China, USA and many others have not attained glory on the basis of reservation but nationalism. Profuse economic aid to the needy as well as meritorious and  two square meals a day to the poor irrespective of caste must be the national motto. The nation is on cross roads and surrounded by hostile neighbours. We are still stuck up in the old ruts for petty gains.
Yours etc….
