Carrying National tricolour and placards, the protesting students raised slogans in support of their demands and against the HRD Ministry. They were demanding permanent deployment of CRPF on NIT Srinagar campus, action against anti-national faculty members, hoisting of National Flag on the campus, etc.
These students assembled near the Press Club Jammu where several NSUI activists and students from GGM Science College, MAM College and Jammu University joined them in large numbers.
After staging a demonstration there, the protesting students marched towards Bikram Chowk amidst raising of slogans.
The protesting NIT students lamented that their demands were not being heard by anyone in MHRD as well as in the college administration. The regular class work has started from today but the non local students have decided to boycott the college till their demands are met, they added.
The students reiterated that they would not go back to the college as their demands are yet to be met. They vowed to continue their protest and appealed to the Jammu people to extend their support as their career was at stake.
