Advocate injured in road mishap, people protest

JAMMU, Apr 30: A score of people tonight held a protest at Amphalla-High Court Road at New Plot when an Advocate got injured after his car rammed into the divider of the road.
According to the reports, a car bearing registration number DL8CA-9135 tonight hit a divider of the road at New Plot resulting into injuries to the car driver identified as Advocate Shahzad. The injured man was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
As soon as the accident occurred, people of the area including shopkeepers and residents gathered there and staged a protest against raising of cemented divider in front of the road, which is already very narrow.
The protesting people also disrupted the vehicular traffic on the busy road for few minutes and raised slogans against PWD (R&B) Department for fixing cemented dividers on the road. They demanded that the divider be painted properly to avoid accidents, which has become routine matter on the road particularly at New Plot, till where the divider has been raised.
On getting information, SHO Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Ashwani Kumar, reached the spot and pacified the protesting people by assuring that the matter will be taken up with the concerned department.
