JAMMU, Apr 30: A delegation of Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) met the Principal Secretary Finance Navin K Choudhary here today and discussed the issues and demands of the traders community.
The delegation led by Federation president Neeraj Anand projected the issues of the traders and also referred to the earlier memorandum submitted to the Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu. Mr Anand emphasized upon the Government to take pro-active approach in getting the GST through as J&K State is going to be benefitted much with this.
Deliberating upon the FDI in e-commerce and its effect on small retailers, members expressed their desire to deliberate on the issue with the Govt in place. Highlighting the inadequacy to give employment in retail business Mr Anand demanded that adequate space at affordable prices should be made available to new start ups in retail. It was also stressed upon that all the shopkeepers engaged in self employment in different professions in the existing markets/ bazaars should not be disturbed, till that time new markets are developed by the Government or private entrepreneurs in PPP mode.
The delegation said that in case Govt wants to promote start ups in retail business and they are not pulled for one violation or the other it should come up with a comprehensive plan to develop new markets. They said the CTF will fully cooperate in any such endeavour of the Govt.
The Principal Secretary assured the delegation that all the valid issues raised by the CTF will be taken care of while preparation of Budget.
The delegation comprised of Yash Paul Gupta, Parveen Gupta, Chander Gulati, Dinesh Gupta, K N Nagar, Balwinder Singh and Vinay Gupta.
