VIJAYPUR, May 1: Former minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed the J&K Government to provide compensation to those farmers who have lost their crops in accidental fire in Vijaypur area.
Addressing meeting of the Congress worker’s here today Manjit Singh said that the farmers have been facing neglect from the Government as no compensation or relief has been announced for them. “There were many incidents of fire in which crops got damaged but no compensation was given to the poor farmers by the Government,” he said.
He sought attention of the Government to look into the issue so that the poor people could get support to carry forward their routine works. “They depend on their crops which have been damaged and they are looking for some help which is yet to be provided,” Singh alleged.
With regard to increasing crises in view of hot summer days, he said, Kandi villages have been facing acute shortage of drinking water and many people have to hire private tankers to supply them drinking water as the PHE has failed to supply water adequately.
“The people should be provided adequate supply of drinking water. The issue is not only drinking water, but tale end villages have also been suffering because of no water in canals,” he alleged.
Coming down heavily on the NDA Government and BJP especially, he said, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to the people during 2014 Parliamentary elections that prices of essential commodities would come down if BJP comes to power. But what happen was completely opposite to it.
He reminded BJP that they used to target Congress party for price hike but this was never happened in Independent India. “Such a price hike was never witnessed in India. BJP has crossed all records and now common man is facing hardship in day-to-day life,” he added.
He also demanded reservation for the people living along the International Border like people have been enjoying reservation on ALC.
