Bovine smuggler arrested in attempt to murder case

JAMMU, May 1: Police arrested a bovine smuggler in attempt to murder case as he tried to kill the cops by breaking the barrier near Sua No 1 area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachak police station.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Akhnoor police station led by SHO Inspector Pushpinder Singh laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AP-6355 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, police cops chased the vehicle and information was also passed to Kanachak police about the incident.
Later, the cops posted near Sua No 1 of Kanachak led by SHO Rakesh Singh raised barrier and signaled the truck to stop. The driver broke the barrier, but could not control the vehicle and it got struck into a roadside lane.
Acting swiftly, the cops reached the spot and arrested one person from the truck, while his associate managed to escape by taking benefit of the darkness. During checking, police rescued 12 bovine animals from the vehicle.
The bovine smuggler has been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Mehandi Hassan, a resident of Gole Gujral, Talab Tillo.
A case under Sections 188 RPC and 307 RPC has been registered against the accused at Kanachak police station and investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Domana SK Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
Meanwhile, a police team headed by Mohan Lal, DySP Headquarters Reasi alongwith Inspector JJ Bhagat SHO police station Pouni under the supervision of Sanjay Singh Rana, Additional SP Reasi and Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi laid a special naka near Kothian and rescued 5 bovine animals from the possession of the three persons. One person was arrested on the spot, while his two associates managed to escape.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Majeed (working at Katra as ponywala), son of Sania of Kothian, Tehsil Pouni District Reasi.
A case under FIR Number 21/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Pouni and manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
