10 yrs RI awarded to charas smuggler

JAMMU, May 1: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu M A Chowdhary has awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1,50000 to Joginder Singh, a charas smuggler.
After hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas appearing for the State whereas Advocate Sumit Kumar appearing for the accused, 1st Additional Sessions Judge observed, “the prosecution has succeeded to prove its case to bring home the charge against the accused”, adding “the accused was possessing 1.225 kilograms of cannabis, which falls in commercial quantity”.
With these observations, court awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1.5 lakh to the convict and sent him to Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu for serving the sentence.
