BJP-PDP trying to weaken RTI, PSGA: Ex-MLA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 3: Senior Congress leader and former MLA from Billawar, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today alleged that BJP-PDP coalition was trying to weaken the democratic institutions like Right to Information (RTI) and Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA).
Addressing public meetings at villages Ria Tandi, Lower Tilla, Dadwara, Harnota, Thang Morha of Thara Kalyal, Dhan and Sallan in Billawar today, the Ex-MLA criticized the style of functioning of present dispensation in the State which is totally anti -masses particularly living in the villages and far flung areas. He alleged that there seems to be no Government on ground, because all the developmental schemes are hampered and nobody seems concerned about the miseries of general public. The corruption is all time high and the public is crying for justice.
The Congress leader strongly criticized the Government for its anti- public policies and making procedural complicacies for issuance of ration cards, state subjects, Income certificates, Birth and Death certificates and even handicapped certificate which further aggravates the problems of common masses instead of simplifying procedure and ensuring time bound services under Public Service Guarantee Act. Even the information under RTI is not being provided in many cases.
Dr Sharma accused Government both at the Centre and State by hatching a conspiracy to weaken the Right to Information Act, Public Service Guarantee Act and non implementation of Lokpal, which shows that the intentions of Government are not good. This has exposed the real face of Modi led BJP Government in bringing transparency and corruption free governance as committed two years before.
During meetings the local villagers were crying due to the non availability of potable water, electricity, ration and medicines in the Government hospitals. Dr Sharma said that the administration should act promptly for the early disposal of burning problems of people.
