RAJOURI, May 4:  The people from Khablan area near Thannamandi held strong protest demonstration and blocked Rajouri-Thannamandi-Mughal Road for about one and half hour today.
They were protesting against decision of the Revenue and GREF (BRO) authorities  for `unfair’ demarcation of the road which is going to be widened  for double laning  from Rajouri to Bafliaz. The villagers claimed that total 80 ft road  in width (40 ft on each side from centre)  is being identified by the GREF and Revenue team jointly. But by giving benefit to some influential families, they have identified 55 ft on one side and 25 on the other at Khablan, which is unacceptable to locals of the area. They said on both sides balance should be maintained.
They raised   barricades on the road and  blocked the movement of vehicles. The people held AC Defence, SDM and Tehsildar Thannamandi  responsible for the same.
Later, SDPO Thannamandi Iftikhar Talib reached the spot  and he pacified the agitating people. He asked them to take up the matter with the DC  Rajouri and allow movement of vehicles.
Then a group of  people moved to the DC office at Rajouri and movement of vehicles was restored after one and half hour.
