JAMMU, May 7: Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) Jammu today projected the issues of trading community before the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta and State BJP chief Sat Sharma during interactive session held here today.
Led by Neeraj Anand, president of the Federation and assisted by senior members like Yash Paul Gupta, Chander Gulati, Vinod Sachdeva, Parveen Gupta, Dinesh Gupta and others, the Federation members submitted a memorandum to them and also discussed in detail various issues concerning trade community and their welfare besides face lift of Jammu city and take affective steps for its beautification.
They pointed out that in last many decades no new markets have come in and around Jammu. It is requested that new clusters of markers as well as existing markets like Ware House, Fruit Complex, Narwal and Transport Nagar be raised. The mixed land use in existing markets in colonies can be a fair option as well, they said. They further said that there is urgent need to make Master Plan, Smart City Plan and Mobility Plan, already in pipe line, to make them really effective.
The CTF members pointed out that last date for filing suggestions and objections in the coming up Master Plan of Jammu is May 9, 2016, and it should be extended at least for one more month. Further, to have better face lift of City of Temples , there must be a fool proof programme so that all litigations going on must be decided by taking certain lenient measures acceptable to both parties ( Govt & Civil Society). All Matador route roads must be allowed for commercial land use. To ease traffic congestion, the Govt must propose 3-tier strategy of commutation like Metro, electric vehicles and trams as also mono-rails.
The Federation demanded that work on the projects like Bagh-e-Bahu Cable Car Project, Artificial Tawi lake, Manda Deer Park and face lift of Suchetgarh Border be expedited to attract pilgrims tourists to Jammu and its surroundings as with the direct train service, the economy of Jammu has been badly hit.
They also proposed setting up of Planetorium at central place like Kala Kendra, sports complex on the pattern of Patiala, open boarding schools at Kud-Patnitop area besides setting up College of Hospitality in the area.
The issues of stone crushers and brick kiln owners were also taken up with the Dy Chief Minister during the meet and it was demanded that new SRO affecting their trade be withdrawn.
