Pilgrim from Maharashtra commits suicide

JAMMU, May 7: A 50-year-old woman from Mahrashtra allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside a washroom at a platform of Jammu Tawi Railway station.
“A woman identified as Sapna (50) wife of Sambhai G Desmukh, a resident of Wangi Taluka, Makanpur, Sangli, Maharashtra this afternoon hanged herself with a piece of cloth inside the washroom of the waiting hall of the platform,” a Railway police spokesman said.
He said that no suicide note or any document was recovered from the spot, adding, the lady was among a group of about 50-60 women, who had come to Jammu to pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine.
“The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for postmortem”, he said, and added that a case in this connection was registered and investigations started.
