JAMMU, May 7: In an attempt to bring people of rural and border areas closer to Government and address their problems at their doorsteps, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chowdhary convened a meeting with senior officers of various departments at R.S. Pura here today.
The Minister reviewed status of various ongoing development schemes and action taken in the State and Centre sponsored schemes.
He took stock of desilting work on various canals, drinking water supply and demand, preparation of State subjects by Revenue Department, distribution of new ration cards and supply position, staff position in educational institutions, IAY scheme, R&B sector as well as law and order situation in the border areas.
Mr. Sham stressed the need for ensuring complete transparency and accountability at all levels to upgrade the existing services on the ground level. He directed the revenue authorities to focus on the welfare of people especially those who come for revenue record purpose. He also directed for launching special sanitation drive in health and educational institutions. He asked for undertaking desilting work in a time bound manner so that the irrigation water reaches to the tail end.
The Minister asked the concerned authorities to ensure timely and quality completion of development works, adding that Government is working hard to provide concrete assets for the people across the State.
Sham Chowdhary gave directions to R&B for repair of inner roads of border tehsil. He asked the engineers to work with added efficiency and dedication to complete all black-topping works before rainy season.
