JAMMU, May 7: Pacca Danga police arrested an inter-State narcotic smuggler from Panjtirthi along with ganja.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Pacca Danga police station laid a surprise naka at Panjtirthi and asked a pedestrian to stop as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the person escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the person.
During checking, police recovered around 500 grams ganja from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Mahinder Dass, a resident of Chattisgarh, at present Panjtirthi.
He had brought the consignment of narcotics from his native place and was about to sale it among the people residing in Panjtirthi and adjoining areas, but got landed in police net.
A case under Section Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Pacca Danga police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga police station Inspector Ajay Bhat made the arrest under the supervision SDPO City Vivek Shekhar Sharma and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
