Traders threaten to suspend business with PoK

POONCH, May 9: The traders from Poonch-Rajouri  districts today threatened to suspend business with their counterparts in PoK , if they tried to dominate them and resorted to dictate their terms.
In a meeting of the traders of the Indian side held at Chakkan-Da-Bagh cross LoC point under the chairmanship of  Pawan Anand, president of the Association,  the members of the trading community expressed their resentment,  the way  Pak authorities handed over a list of 90 traders of Indian side with whom they expressed their desire  to continue business.
Mr Anand said that 303 traders have been registered by the Indian authorities who can have business with their counterparts in PoK.  He said only Indian authorities or their trade body can decide on this issue. They do not have any authority to dictate terms to the traders on this side. They must confine to the trade activities of the business on their side. So, their list is unacceptable to them.
The traders further demanded that Pak authorities should allow the other tradable items like Rajma,   spices  etc through this LoC point. There are several items which are traded from Uri side but authorities  are not allowing the same on this side.
They alleged that Pak traders are also indulging in unfair practice as they keep their banana laden trucks there for couple of days and then return the rotten fruits, for which traders are suffering huge losses. They warned that if this practice continued, they will be forced to suspend business  with their counterparts in PoK. TFO, Tanveer Ahmed also participated in the meeting and said that he will communicate their concern on that side.
