Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 172 cattle rescued, 8 smugglers arrested

JAMMU, May 9: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 172 cattle and apprehending 8 smugglers from Jammu and Rajouri districts.
As per police sources, in Jammu district, 94 cattle were rescued near Ban Toll Plaza Nagrota with the arrest of three smugglers.
The accused have been identified as Mian Zulfkar, son of Mian Rafiq resident of Ransoo, , Reasi, Tariq Ahmed Bhat, son of Gulam Hasan Bhat, resident of Malangpura, Pulwama, Mohd Sadiq, son of Saifu, resident of Puranputi Landar, Udhampur.
Six vehicle bearing registration numbers JK14D-0989, JK02BM-8377, JK02AP-7318, JK02AL-7507, JK02AJ-8775 and JK13C 3911, which were being used to smuggle the bovine animals from Jammu to Valley were also seized by the police.
A case under FIR Number 101/16 under Section 379 and 188 RPC has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and manhunt has been launched to nab the associates of the arrested persons, who managed to escape from the spot.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
In district Rajouri, 78 cattle were rescued from Sunderbani, Kalakote and Lam area with the arrest of 10 smugglers. The cattle smugglers have been identified as Muneer Hussain, son of Baddar Din, resident of Patyari, Kalakote, Aftab Hussain son of Muneer Hussain resident of Patyari, Kalakote, Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Munshi Khan, resident of Patyari, Kalakote, Mohammad Azam, son of Shakih Mohammad, resident of Painara, Kalakote, Liaqat Hussain, son of Mir Mohammad of Anwas Bhandar Laroka and Mohammad Latif, son of Noor Mohammad of Lam.
Two vehicles bearing registration number JK11B-0516 and JK02AP-4403 were also seized by the police.
Cases under FIR Numbers 27/16 and 28/16 have been registered at police station Sunderbani, 56/16 and 57/16 at police station Nowshera and 31/16 at Police Station Kalakote.
The arrests were made by SHO Sunderbani Inspector Ravinder Singh Parihar, Incharge Police Post Lam Sub Inspector Ashwani Kumar and SHO kalakote Inspector Mohammad Iqbal under the supervision of Additional SP Nowshera Atul Sharma and SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh.
