Expedite work on developmental projects: Veeri to CEs

SRINAGAR, May 10: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today directed all Chief Engineers to expedite  work on developmental projects being executed under R&B, NABARD, JKPCC and PMGSY sectors.
Mr. Veeri was addressing a high level meeting here to review the pace of progress of different schemes.
Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Rohit Kansal, Managing Director, JKPCC, Chief Engineers of R&B, PMGSY, Mughal Road and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The Minister took detailed review of different vital road projects and bridges including roads from Tangmarg to Gulmarg, Athwajan to Pantha Chowk, Ashajipora and Pulwama. He gave directions to the concerned Chief Engineers to remove the bottlenecks and speed up construction work.
The Minister directed MD JKPCC to speed up construction work of Zangli Bridge and Lecture Block of Degree College in Kupwara district, Guest House at Government Medical College Bemina, Degree College Khan Sahib and Kilam.
Reviewing the progress of road projects being executed under PMGSY, the Minister was informed that the organization is taking up 108 new road schemes with a length of 252 kms during current financial year in remote and far flung areas of Kashmir Division.
Reviewing the progress of Mughal Road, the Minister asked concerned Chief Engineer to clear the slips of the road by or before 25th of this month. He also directed restoration of flood protection works in different areas.
Mr. Veeri directed Chief Engineer R&B to start macadamization of roads in view of improving  weather condition in Kashmir valley. He also took stock of the ongoing macadamization of roads in Jammu region.
He asked for finalization of all NABARD schemes within a stipulated time frame. He emphasized upon the Engineers to show dedication and complete all ongoing works so that the benefits of developmental works could percolate down to the people.
The Commissioner Secretary briefed the Minister about the progress of the department including safety audit of bridges and fly overs.
The meeting also discussed matter related to the schemes under Central Road fund (CRF) and World Bank.
