SRINAGAR: Alleging that there is a systemic effort to undermine and sideline the State’s special status, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said the Government’s failure to stop the extension of NEET to Jammu and Kashmir is an indication that ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has completely integrated into Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“This is a systemic effort to undermine and sideline the State’s institutional autonomy even in areas that specifically fall under the State List of the Constitution,” Dr Abdullah said, while addressing the NC workers, in a function in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
Dr Farooq said NC is the only political force that can counter these nefarious designs and protect the State’s political rights and honour. “The State Government has assured the students and the people of the State in general that they would ensure NEET isn’t extended to J&K and that the State’s special status is upheld. What happened to their appeal in the Supreme Court,” the NC president asked. (AGENCIES)
