JAMMU, May 12: All J&K Pensioners Association, Jammu, has appealed the State Government to look into long pending and genuine demands of the pensioners.
Addressing a press conference here today , general secretary of the Association- Madan Lal Abrol listed the demands, which include amendment in SRO-94, enhancement of Medical Allowance, relief on commutation of pension,   family pension to the widows, who contract another marriage, etc.
While highlighting the demands, he alleged undesirable and discouraging treatment by the Government to senior citizens. “For quite sometime, it has been experienced with heavy heart that all classes of pensioners are being treated not in desired or required manner and every now and then this class of the society has to go from door to door of the administration either for release of pension arrears or for fixation of their pension, removal of anomalies, release of DA installment etc,” he said.
Mr Abrol reminded the Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu of his last year assurance that he would look into their demands sympathetically. “We are hopeful that the Finance Minister will keep his promise and positively consider our demands,” he added.
While elaborating, the Association leader urged the Government to amend SRO-94, dated April 15, 2009 by substituting 50 percent Grade Pay with 100 percent Grade Pay. “The Association also demands that the entire interest chargeable on commuted amount of pension may kindly be waived off as on today and the span of recovery be curtailed to 10 years only instead of 15 years without raising the quantum of installments,” he added.
The press conference was also attended by   Yash Paul Sasan, Bhushan Pargal, Des Raj Sharma, Puran Chand Khajuria, Dr Raj Kumar, Dev Raj Gupta, Mohd Shafi, Madan Lal Sharma, Ashok Bhasin and others.
