MAJALTA, May 12: Castigating the BJP for its meek surrenders and second fiddle role in the coalition Government of the State, Harshdev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister today appealed to the people to stand united to teach the Saffron party a befitting lesson.
He was addressing various public meetings in Majalta and its adjoining villages including Dhamma, Poona, Kathil Dangu, etc.
He said while the Kashmir based parties were reluctant to allocate land for inhabiting Army and para military personnel including the Ex-servicemen and their families in the valley, the BJP opted to remain tight lipped over the issue. He said that JKNPP strongly favoured establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir on the pattern of Jammu.
While taking a dig at the BJP for making persistent attempts to suppress the NIT Kashmir students agitation, Harshdev Singh said that the nationalist students who confronted the felons rejoicing India’s defeat in the T20 World Cup match were brutally assaulted, abused and manhandled for upholding the sanctity of the Tricolour.
He said that the BJP’s treachery was evident from the fact when JKNPP’s ‘Tiranga Rally’ was restrained at Patnitop by the State police from hoisting National flag at Lal Chowk Srinagar, on the behest of BJP partnered dispensation.
Singh once again exhorted the Government to repeal the Service tax on Hindu pilgrims otherwise Panthers party shall be forced to rake up the issue vigorously till its logical conclusion.
On the local issues, Harshdev Singh lambasted the Government for total disregard of Ramnagar constituency. At Dhamma, he sought upgradation of HS Dhamma to the level of HSS; and early up gradation of Dhamma -Jansal road. At Poona, he sought restoration of water supply and improvement of voltage. At Kathal, he urged upon the concerned officers to restore the defunct hand pumps besides coverage of the village under LIC or other centrally sponsored projects of PHE. He also inaugurated the link road to MS Kathal constructed by the local people through public contribution.
