Coalition to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination: PDP

JAMMU, May 12: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today said that coalition Government is committed to develop Jammu region as independent tourist destination. Party observed that Jammu region has huge potential of developing as most important tourist destination of the country.
Addressing one day convention of Jammu rural and Samba district, vice president of the PDP, Sardar Rangil Singh said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has initiated concrete steps in this regard.
He said during the last one month, Chief Minister has taken effective steps to develop spots in the border areas to develop border tourism on the pattern of Wagah border. “It was dream of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to develop some points on International Border (IB) on the pattern of Wagah border to attract tourists from different parts of the country”, he added.
Mr Singh recalled and hailed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to carrying forward that agenda while mentioning towards interest being shown by Chief Minister in developing Baba Chamlayal and Suchetgarh as tourist points on IB.
“Lakhs and lakhs of pilgrims visit Jammu region to have darshan of the holy shrine Mata Vaishno Devi, the present Government is working on a plan to divert these pilgrims towards other tourist destinations to improve socio-economic conditions of the people”, he said.
Listing various revolutionary steps being taken by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for the last one month, Sardar Rangil Singh said that the Chief Minister has been working assiduously to address grievances of the people. “With in tenure of just one month, Mehbooba Mufti has proved that she has zeal and commitment to ameliorate socio-economic conditions of the people”, he said and added that Chief Minister has proved herself as an efficient and effective administrator.
President Mahila Wing Vijaya Dogra, spokesperson Ved Mahajan, senior leaders T S Bajwa, Shanti Devi, Daman Bhasin, Ch Hussain Ali Waffa, Jitender Bhat, V C J&K Advisory Board for SCs Bhushan Dogra, Fallail Singh, Surjeet Kour,  district Jammu Rural president F C Bhagat, president district Samba Dr Harmesh Salathia, all zonal presidents of both the districts, Satpal Singh Charak, Rajender Manhas, Sukhwinder Singh, R K Bali and others addressed the convention.
