Shahnawaz appointed RGPRS convenor

JAMMU, May 13: Shahnawaz Choudhary, general secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee (J&K) has been appointed as convenor of J&K State for Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sangathan (RGPRS).
The appointment was announced by Meenakshi Natarajan, Ex-MP (Chairperson RGPRS AICC New Delhi) with the approval of AICC president.
RGPRS was founded by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in 2007 as a part of Indian National Congress to work with the PRI and Urban Local Bodies. RGPRS aims to advocate for decentralization of power, enhance devolution literacy among PRI representatives and generate awareness amongst the citizens regarding the role and power of local self Government.
RGPRS is the platform to build national consciousness regarding devolution of power to the people at the grass- root by expanding their political opportunities and participation in Panchayat Raj institution and Urban local bodies.
Shahnawaz also remained president of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC). He thanked AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi (VP), Meenakshi Natarajan and PCC chief GA Mir for giving this responsibility.
