RAJOURI, May 13: The people held strong protest against Medical staff at District Hospital Rajouri and blocked road for about two hours today.
Reports said that problem took place when an attendant, Mushtaq Hussain of the patient was allegedly thrashed by one doctor of the District Hospital Rajouri and his staff. The attendant had some argument with the doctor over the issue of medicine, following which the furious doctor and his staff roughed up the poor villager.
This act of the Medical staff created lot of resentment among the other people at hospital. They moved to the Rajouri- Thannamandi road near hospital and started protest at 9.30 AM. The movement of the vehicles was disrupted for about two hours. They raised slogans against doctors and staff. They alleged that for their commission and personal gains, medicos are virtually looting the poor patients. They also pointed out three other doctors of this hospital who hardly visit hospital and remain busy in their private clinics during office hours.
Later, Additional DC and DySP headquarters reached the spot. The ADC Mumtaz assured to hold inquiry into the matter. He also asked attendant to lodge an FIR against the doctor and medical staff. Mushtaq then lodged and FIR against medico and others for attack on him. The road was cleared after 11.30 am.
