60 kg poppy straw seized

REASI, May 13: In a major success, Reasi Police has busted an inter-district gang of drug smugglers and recovered 60 kg of poppy straw besides arresting four persons in this connection.
The huge quantity of poppy straw was recovered from different locations of Reasi while conducting effective raids. The special team, headed by District Incharge NDPS, Dy SP Hqrs. Reasi, Mohan Lal Sharma and SHO Reasi, Dalip Singh, conducted these raids and recovered poppy straw weighing 47.590 kg.
The two accused, namely Sukhdev Singh of Sarotekote Bhomag and Tej Singh of same area, were apprehended with two jute bags of poppy straw from Bakkal area and during interrogation they revealed different locations of Reasi after which the special team conducted successful raids and recovered more bags of poppy straw from Tote Sari areas of district Reasi.
In this connection, FIR No. 71/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Reasi. The special team recovered 6 kg poppy straw from accused namely Jagdish Singh of Surjandhar, Reasi and Suram Singh of Lamsoora Bandhar Reasi.
In this case, FIR number 66/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS act was registered.
It is pertinent of mention that the special team was constituted on the directions IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana and DIG Udhampur Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta, by SSP Reasi Sujit Kumar to curb the menace of drugs in District Reasi and Dy SP Hqrs Reasi was made incharge of the Special Team.
