SRINAGAR, May 14: To facilitate the applicants, otherwise unable to get the appointments, Passport Office Srinagar conducted Passport Melas on off-days of May 7 and May 14.
300 appointments were released for each day. The conducting of Passport Melas on off- days also helped in reducing the appointment-cycle time.
In addition to Passport Melas, Passport Adalats were concurrently held on said dates wherein grievances of applicants were attended to and redressed as per the norms. This provided a platform to the applicants who otherwise were unable to track the status of their pending cases besides necessary clarifications regarding passport services were shared with the applicants.
These endeavours are part of the exercise to ease out the passport services which saw a manifold increase in last few years. This office, however, was able to cater to the increasing demand by rendering around 2,75,000 passport services since 2012 till date besides facilitating cross LoC travel. In 2015, a record number of around 70,000 passport services was rendered.
