MENDHAR, May 16: The people from Balakote area today held protest demonstration and blocked Mendhar-Jammu road at Bhata Durian for about two hours today.
Reports said that the people led by local leader Majid Khatana assembled at Dhar Galoon at around 12.30 pm and then started protest. They were raising slogans against State Revenue authorities for not providing staff at newly created tehsil office in the area. They said that no Tehsildar or other staff was posted after creating new Tehsil unit. The general public has been suffering since long, they said.
They also shouted slogans against R&B authorities for the worst condition of Grid Station to Basuni road which is 6 kms in length. They alleged that Rs 70 lakh was withdrawn for the repair of this road by the R&B but on ground nothing was done. The condition of the road was still worst. They demanded inquiry into the matter through DC Poonch.
