SHOPIAN, May 18: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked officers to ensure inclusive development by creating productive assets at district level.

Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Vice-Chairman Advisory Board for Gujjar & Bakerwals Choudhary Zaffar Ali, Legislators Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, and Showkat Ahmad Ganai also attended the meeting besides heads of various departments, Chief Engineers, Deputy Commissioner Shopian and sectoral and district officers.
The Minister asked officers to be vibrant and proactive in resolving the people’s problems. He asked them to conceive developmental projects in such a way that the same are completed within the set time frame to avoid any cost overrun. He urged officers to make sincere efforts for timely implementation of State and Central sponsored schemes so that tangible results are realized on the ground.
The board approved plan outlay of Rs 81.61 crore for current financial year to execute various developmental project and welfare schemes in the district.
The board also reviewed action taken report of previous year’s board decisions and Chief Minister’s commitments. It was informed that all the decisions and commitments have been fully implemented in the district.
Earlier, the Minister took appraisal of developmental profile of the district and was informed by the Deputy Commissioner that Mini Secretariat Complex was completed at as cost of Rs 36.88 crore, while as work is progressing at 100 bed District Hospital Shopian and is nearing completion at a cost of Rs 11 crore.
The Minister was informed that a big dream project of Ex- Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Syeed has been cleared by initiating widening and up-gradation of Bijbehare-Shopian road under Central Road Fund. The 18 km road will be of two lane nature which costs Rs 48.93 crore.
The meeting also took detailed review of education, health, power, Agriculture and allied sectors.
Mr Veeri, responding to the issues raised by concerned MLAs asked for preparation of DPRs for lift irrigation scheme at Loche Wuddar Chitragam, Circular Road Shopian, Satellite Mandi at Wachi. He also directed Sericulture Department for transfer of 8 kanal land to Higher Secondary School Wachi. He also asked for establishment of blood bank in Shopian and directed for regular night service of gynecologist at District Hospital Shopian. He also directed Deputy Commissioner to coordinate with concerned for creating infrastructural facilities along the Mughal Road. He also directed for construction of residential quarters at Shopian.
Syed Basharat Bukhari while addressing the meeting asked Deputy Commissioner to provide land at Mughal Road for construction of shelter sheds to facilitate the commuters.
