JAMMU, May 18: Coming heavily on traffic police for worst ever traffic scenario in Jammu city and its outskirts, JK Against Corruption (JKAC) today urged the IGP Traffic, Vipilab Kumar, for streamlining the vehicular traffic.
Addressing a press conference here today, the executive members of JK Against Corruption Girish Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Ravi Kumar, Sandeep Jamwal, Rajan Gupta and Bipan Singh Bakshi, said that the traffic cops are more interested in doing challans instead of regulating traffic.
They said that common people are suffering due to heavy challans done by the traffic cops for wrong parking despite knowing the fact that there are only few parking lots in the city and that too are overcrowded.
“The Traffic cops even not spare the vehicle parked in the streets. Moreover, there is no criteria for doing challan to four-wheelers and two wheeler”, they said adding the men in blue even challaned to those who parked their two-wheeler for just few minutes in front of shops to purchase some articles.
They further alleged that there is only one counter for challan in Jammu and demanded the traffic authorities to establish another soon.
The activists of JK Against Corruption also demanded the traffic authorities to take strict action against mini-bus operators, who indulge in rash driving and use to stop anywhere in between the roads creating huge traffic problem.
