JAMMU, May 19: Distinguished scholar and Central Asian expert, Dr Kashinath Pandita has been included in the cultural group accompanying the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on his two day official visit to Tehran (Iran) beginning on May 22.
Dr Pandita is a former student of Tehran University where he earned Ph.D in Iranian –Central Asian studies. He had made valuable contribution to the study of current political affairs of the region including Iran. Dr Pandita has a number of publications including Iran and Central Asia to his credit. Iranian Embassy in New Delhi honoured him with Saadi Award in 2011 and the President of India awarded him in 1995 for his outstanding contribution to classics and strengthening of Indo-Iranian cultural relations.
