Police solves Hazuri Bagh robbery

JAMMU, May 19: With the arrest of three persons, police today claimed to have solved a loot case in which a courier company employee was robbed of Rs 5 lakh in Hazuri Bagh area of the city.
“On last Monday, one Parveen Kumar, a courier company employee, was on his way to deposit the company’s money in a bank when three youths riding a motorcycle attacked him and snatched away the cash bag. The trio attacked Kumar with an iron rod and sharp edged weapons, leaving him seriously injured”, a police spokesman said, adding the injured Kumar was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
He said that several police teams monitored the video footage from all the CCTV cameras installed in the area and after hectic efforts, the police got a clue from the sources and identified one of the accused as Vishal Sharma, who was taken into custody immediately.
“During interrogation, he revealed the names of his two accomplices as Bushan Sharma and Jonny”, the spokesman said, adding they were also taken into custody and have confessed to the crime. The spokesman said that out of the total theft money an amount of Rs 4.66 lakh was recovered from them.
