Governing Body reviews functioning of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital

KAKRYAL, May 20: The 22nd meeting of the Governing Body of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal was held here under the chairmanship of Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the hospital.
Besides reviewing functioning, the Governing Body took several decisions for further expanding and upgrading the diagnostic and treatment facilities to be provided at this state-of-the-art Superspeciality Hospital for ensuring the best possible patient care.
On the directions of Governor N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shrine Board, a Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) has been constituted to undertake continuous supervision of the financial transactions of the hospital, including a system of concurrent audit. The FAC is headed by Shri B. B. Vyas, Financial Commissioner, J&K Government and is supported by Ravi Magotra, former DG of Budget and R. K. Gupta, Chartered Accountant. The two members of FAC who represent Narayana Health with whom the Shrine Board has entered into an agreement for operationalising the Hospital, are A. Nagarajan, Sr. Vice President Finance, NH and K. S. Natrajan, Head of Finance, NVDSHPL.
The Governing Body also decided to appoint an experienced Chartered Accountant as a Concurrent Auditor to audit the daily transactions of the Hospital.
B. B. Vyas, Financial Commissioner and ex-CEO of the Shrine Board and Member of the Governing Body; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO; Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer; and Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH from the Shrine Board side participated in the meeting.
Those who took part in the Governing Body meeting on behalf of NVDSHPL/NH included Dr. Emmanuel Rupert, Chief of Medical Services, NH; Dr. S. P. Singh, CEO, NVDSHPL, Member, Governing Body; A. Nagarajan, Sr. Vice President Finance, NH; and Dr. Shreeman Narayan, Medical Superintendent, SMVDNSH.
The Governing Body took a detailed review of the OPD and IPD patients treated, major surgeries performed and number of diagnostic tests conducted at this Hospital since its opening. The Governing Body was apprised that a number of major surgeries in Neurology and Orthopedics had been conducted and Cardiac surgeries are planned in the coming week.
To effectively deal with any emergency situation in the wake of any disaster, the meeting held extensive discussions to put in place a fail-free Disaster Management Plan for the Hospital. Dr. Bloeria asked the Hospital team to ensure that the communication network, which is one of the most crucial components for responding to any such situation on real time basis, has to be tested, reviewed and strengthened at regular intervals and mock drills organised more often to assess the efficacy of disaster management preparedness on continuing basis.
The meeting reviewed the manpower deployment and requirement of additional equipments and logistics to further expand and upgrade patient care facilities at this hospital. It also took review of the automation of various services.
