Srinagar, May 22: Noted filmmaker Subhash Ghai today appealed Jammu and Kashmir Government to open cinema halls, drama theatres and conduct music workshops and urged youth of Kashmir to promote their culture and ethos through films.
The filmmaker was here on a five day trip to discuss an upcoming film festival which is likely to be held in Srinagar. Meanwhile, he said he is also writing a film script here that might be based on Kashmir.
The filmmaker while deliberating on the importance of the films and cinemas said that it should be taught in schools and colleges in Kashmir “as art directly connects us to God and inspires us to serve humanity”.
“Kashmirs should start telling their own stories and promote their culture and literature through films. Everyone should know how beautiful is Kashmir and the people living here and there is no better medium than cinema”, he added.
“So they should make more Kashmir-based films and introduce their culture and literature to the world. I want Kashmir to produce more artists. Art has universal language and appeal and its only art which can bring a positive change in the world without harming anyone,” he told reporters here.
