Attempt to grab Govt land foiled

MENDHAR, May 22: The Horticulture Department staff  and Revenue authorities   foiled attempt of a villager to grab some Horticulture Department land near Dak Bangalow in Mendhar town today.
Official sources said that with the intervention of Deputy Commissioner, Poonch,  M H Malik, the Horticulture Department staff and a few Revenue officials removed the encroachment on nearly two marlas of  Govt land. One Abdul Rashid Khan  of Gohlad tried to make Pucca passage through Govt land and grab a portion of it. About 8 kanal and 15 marlas of land in Khasra No. 145, 170 and 178 was allotted to Horticulture Department  in 1962. But two local villagers managed revenue entries of  some of this  land  on their own name.
The DC directed the concerned Tehsildar and SDM to conduct inquiry and take appropriate action in this regard. He recommended stern action for tempering of record or making fake entries in the revenue record. CHO,  Poonch  Mr Koul claimed that this entire land belonged to Horticulture Department  and land grabbing will not be allowed.
