VHP, KPs’ concern over Tourism Deptt bid to change name of Hari Parbat

JAMMU, May 22: Various organizations have expressed their grave concern over the naming of ancient Hari Parbat Hill lock in Kashmir Valley which is the seat of Goddess Durga as Kohi-e- Maran by Tourism Department of State Government and demanded action against the officer responsible for this deliberate act.
In a statement VHP State general secretary Shakti Dutt Sharma said that the action has hurt the sentiments of Hindus all over the globe as the history of Hari Parbat hillock dates back to Vedic period and it is said that the hillock was formed in Satisar which the entire Kashmir was known after Lord Shiva threw ashes of Sati in the Lake.
He said Chakrishwar is sacred Hindu Shrine and the hillock on which it is situated is known as Hari Parbat, the name is mentioned in ancient history books of Kashmir as well, he added. He said the concerned officer should be taken to ask as his action is bound to create a divide among the people.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief Kundan Kashmiri has also expressed his dismay and grave concern over the act of Tourism Department and said the act was made deliberately to create trouble for coalition government by  the Tourism Department. The Chief Minister should act and take the officer to task responsible for the same and prove the credibility of the State Government.
Magam Bangil Sabha president Raj Nath Raina has also criticized the Government for this step which has hurt the sentiments of Hindu community and demanded action against those who are responsible for the same. The Sabha which met here today to deliberate over various issues especially volte face by Government over establishment of separate colonies for Pandits in Valley said the statement of Education Minister Naeem Akhtar who is also government spokesman indicates that PDP is not interested in return of Pandits back to Valley.
Vice president of Sabha R N Raina, general secretary M L Raina, J L Sadhu and S K Bhat addressed the meeting.
