Sham tours Udhampur, Ramban areas; meets Cong workers

JAMMU, May 25: Former Minister and senior vice president of Pradesh Congress Committee, Sham Lal Sharma conducted a tour of Udhampur and Ramban districts, convened meeting of party workers and gave patient hearing to the problems of their respective areas.
Sham Lal Sharma was accompanied by Rajnish Sharma, co-treasurer of Pradesh Congress Committee and PCC general secretary Manmohan Singh.
Various issues were raised during the meetings which pertained to non-availability of ration, erratic power supply and poor road connectivity. The Congress leaders were also apprised of the hardships due to non-supply of ration for the last six months and the situation may further worsen if the ration was not supplied to the people who will have to face starvation. Same was the case with power supply which was very poor. They appealed the Congress leaders to raise these issues before the Government and also in State Assembly.
Besides local problems, various organisational matters were also discussed. The party leaders also asked the workers to accelerate the membership drive so that maximum number of members could be enrolled.
Sham Lal Sharma assured the local leaders of different areas that he would raise the same at appropriate level shortly. He further assured that in case the demands were not redressed the Congress will go for large scale protest against BJP-PDP coalition Government for its lackadaisical attitude.
Those present in the meeting were Ashok Gupta, Udhampur DCC president, Vijay Manhas, secretary PCC, Krishan Chand Bhagat, ex-MLA, Vinod Khajuria, Shakeel Ahmed (all from Udhampur), Arun Singh Raju, president DCC Ramban, Ashok Kumar Ex-MLA, spokesperson JKPCC, Farooq Katoch, working president, Haji Yusuf Gujjar leader and others.
