Govt seeks cooperation from NZC to ensure safety of Kashmiri youth

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Government has sought cooperation from Northern Zonal Council (NZC), which consists of five states, a Union Territory (UT) and the national capital, in ensuring safety and security of Kashmiri youth and businessmen travelling to various parts of the country.

An official spokesperson here today said that J&K hosted the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee of the NZC, which was chaired by with Chief Secretary, B R Sharma, at S K International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar.

“Free and frank discussion was held with regard to areas of mutual interest between the officials of the northern member States of J&K, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, national capital Delhi and UT of Chandigarh,” he said.

He also said the Standing Committee besides resolving certain issues at its level also prioritized the agenda of NZC for its forthcoming meeting. “The Standing Committee reviewed the progress of implementation on the recommendations made in the 27th meeting of NZC, held under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at New Delhi on  April 25, 2015,” he said.
