Srinagar, May 27: The Government today said it has realized over Rs 5 crore as income through royalty from stone-crushers in the State.
In a written reply to MLC Naresh Gupta in Upper House, the Minister Incharge Forests stated an income to the tune of Rs. 589.405 lakh has been realized by the Industries and Commerce Department for the year 2015-16.
He said that there are a total of 677 stone crushers in J&K while highest are in Budgam with 110 and lowest in Kulgam with 04. He said the Government orders closure and takes action against unauthorized and illegal stone-crushers. “Board consents only such units which are located at proper sites and are fitted with requisite Pollution Control Devices,” he added.
The Minister further revealed that there are 135 total macadam plants in the State while again the highest of them are in Budgam district with 46 in number and lowest in Ganderbal with 2 in number.
