SRINAGAR, May 28: Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council today directed Congress MLC, Ghulam Nabi Monga to write to Privilege Committee over the alleged un-parliamentary remarks of an MLA against the Upper House.
While speaking in favour of Governor’s address, the PDP MLC, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas without naming anyone said an MLA yesterday used unparliamentary language against Upper House by calling it as ‘Rehabilitation Centre’ and ‘House of corrupt people’.
“This house is the house of elders. If, he thinks anyone is corrupt he should take legal action but he cannot generalize. We should condemn this (remarks) and prove that it is the house of elders,” Manhas said. The other members including Chairman Haji Anayat Ali also expressed unhappiness over these remarks.
Later, the Deputy Chairman, Ajatshatru Singh directed MLC Monga to write to Privilege Committee ‘so that we can take action’.
