POONCH, Sept 19: Two Army jawans from 156 Tarritorial battalion were beaten up by local public in Surankote area this evening.
The trouble started when two jawans namely Mohd Zakir and Mohd Hanief of the TA battalion located in Khanetar area of Surankote were distributing toffies among local children. The jawans were in civil and also interacting with the children. The people suspected them as members of the gang lifting children and started beating them. They were mercilessly beaten up.
The police party after coming to know about the incident rushed to the spot and rescued the jawans. Later, senior Army officials also reached. They asked police to register FIR against the villagers involved in attack on army jawans.
