BSNL employees stage protest dharna

UDHAMPUR, Sept 19: Employees of BSNL held protest dharna outside the office of Telecom District Manager here today.
The employees under the banner of BSNL Employees Union assembled at the office of District Telecom Manager of SSA Udhampur today and sat on dharna. The Union members from district Jammu, Reasi, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar also joined the protest. They were protesting against the anti-union and anti-development attitude of the Telecom District Manager of SSA Udhampur.
They pointed out that different BTS remain dead due to non-availability of diesel and other faults, causing inconvenience to BSNL customers. It also affects the revenue of the company. They said Garhi-II often remain faulty causing huge loss to the BSNL. The contractual staff is facing exploitation and not getting any additional money for over time, broad band and CDR link in district Doda is faulty for over one month, decisions taken in council meeting are not implemented, Kanjli and Talwara Exchanges are out of order fore more than one month and the staff claims (medical/ GPF) remain unsettled for months and even years together.
Several Union leaders strongly condemned the attitude of district head and demanded that these issues be solved without any delay in the general interest of the company. Prominent among them included H L Chirvi, Romesh Kumar, Y R Manhas, Bodh Raj, Anil Kumar, Des Raj, Bal Krishan, S K Moza and Narinder Singh.
