TUFS organizes free medical camp

JAMMU, May 30: A free medical camp was organized by The Universal Friendship Society (TUFS) at village Kotli Arjun Singh in Suchetgarh Border area.
Sewa Singh, local Namberdar, inaugurated the camp. Dr Kirpal Singh, MD, DMJ London, along with his team rendered medical services to the residents of the area. The medical team focused their attention and services on screening for hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus.
Dr Singh impressed upon the villagers visiting the camp to control their diet and life style for prevention of Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus. Keeping food hygiene in daily life was also explained very clearly to the people.
The patients were advised to avoid smoking and having sugary and fried foods. Patients of Hypertension were advised to eat very less salt. The team advised people above 50 years of age to do exercise or brisk walk for at least 30 minute in five days a week.
The medical team observed that the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension is increasing in the society and therefore people must eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Surjit Kaur, Jivan Lata Sharma, Ameet Kaur, Jagjeet Singh, Preet Singh, Harbhajan Singh— all volunteers also rendered their services in the camp. Ashok Choudhary, a health worker, checked the blood pressure of the patients and provided medical advice.
