Srinagar, May 30: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting the by-poll from South Kashmir’s Anantnag Assembly constituency, will file her nomination papers on Wednesday.
She was scheduled to file nomination papers at 10 a.m. tomorrow but it was changed to Wednesday tonight.
The polling for the Assembly segment is being held on June 19. The seat was left vacant due to demise of her father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in January this year.
In the last Assembly polls, Sayeed had defeated his nearest rival Hilal Shah of Congress by over 6000 votes. Mufti secured 16,298 votes in the election.
Mehbooba, who took over as Chief Minister of the State on April 4 this year, has to become a member of either the Assembly or the Legislative Council within six months. She is currently Lok Sabha member from South Kashmir.
