JAMMU, May 31: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla has alleged that BJP-PDP Coalition Government has failed to provide any relief to the people and general public is suffering for want of electricity, water and adequate ration supply.
Addressing a meeting of party workers at Marble Market in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today, Mr Bhalla said that these two parties and especially the BJP failed to fulfill the promises made with the people during elections. There is no control on the prices and additional taxes are being imposed on the public. It would lead to price hike and burdening further the poor and common man.
He said the Coalition Government has kept on hold the new industrial policy adopted by the State Administrative Council on March 14. The policy envisaged more than Rs 20,000 crore investments by industrialists and jobs to 150,000 people apart from thrust on transparency, accountability and e-governance. It was expected that the new Govt would spell out something on the industrial and employment-friendly measures, but no measures have been taken in this regard.
Finance minister had claimed that the industrial associations of the state ‘will be encouraged to develop on their own or in partnership with private industrial estates/parks on commercial lines’, those associated with the industrial sector see it as a futile exercise as there is no clarity on the policy to be followed by the State to attract investment. He said the Government had failed to announce sound measures for the horticulture sector and there was no “immediate relief” for the business community, especially those hit hard by the devastating September floods in 2014.
The Government has been ignoring the people of the State especially those who are completely dependent on agriculture and live stock though most of the population of State is dependent on agriculture. Agriculture has become expensive for farmers for last one year ever since the new Govt was formed. Govt has failed to cope with the inflation and has not shown any seriousness to increase wages / honorarium of a section of society which is working on too less salary.
Bhalla said that Govt must increase honorarium/salary of Anganwari workers/ helpers, ASHAs and Mid-Day Meal workers. There is need to give hike to the pension for old people, widows, handicapped, orphans and students. The unemployment problem which has assumed alarming propositions should be taken up by the Government on priority.
