SC/ST Corpn distributes cheques worth Rs 50 lakh

SRINAGAR, Sept 19: The Managing Director, Jammu & Kashmir State SC, ST and Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, Mr. Ghulam Rasool Khan, todaydistributed loan cheques worth Rs.50 lacs among 60 beneficiaries belonging to handicapped, Backward Classes and ST categories at a one day awareness programme held at S.P College Auditorium here He also inaugurated a Skill Development Training Programme for 25 women of Safai Karamcharis organised in collaboration with National Safi Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation, New Delhi.
Mr. Khan said that the Corporation under Direct Financing Schemes in collaboration with National Level Corporations has disbursed loans to the tune of Rs.50.47 crores to 3350 beneficiaries to establish their income generating units under Transport, Agriculture, Handicrafts and other business sectors. He said 25,766 units were also established under Bank Tie-up scheme with the involvement of subsidy amount of Rs.14.22 crores and bank loans of Rs.51.52 crores so far.
Addressing the gathering, the Managing Director while highlighting the role of the Corporation in uplifting the people of socially and economically weaker categories through various welfare schemes launched by the Government, said that the Corporation is working as State Channelizing agency for implementing various welfare programmes of the Six National Level Corporations of the government of India.
He said the main aim and objective of conducting such awareness camp is to percolate information about numerous schemes launched for the welfare of these communities to the concerned people. He asked the people of these communities to come forward and avail the benefits of these schemes launched by the Government through SC, ST & BC Corporation for setting up their income generating units for the better livelihood.
On the occasion, Manager Projects, Mohammad Iqbal, Divisional Manager, Kashmir Irshad Majeed Bhat, Districts Mangers of Srinagar, Baramulla and Pulwama were present.
