JAMMU,  June 1: The White Knight Corps celebrated the 45th Raising Day today.
Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps complimented all ranks on their outstanding contribution in combating militancy and assisting the civil administration in regaining normalcy in the region. He exhorted upon all troops to persist with same zeal and enthusiasm towards their profession to achieve new milestones.
A solemn wreath laying ceremony was conducted with full military honours where the General Officer Commanding paid floral tributes to the martyrs at  “Ashwamedh Shaurya Sthal” in the early hours of the day.
The General Officer later on interacted with the troops of Nagrota Garrison. A special Sainik Sammelan was also organised for the troops and their families of Nagrota Military Station. To commemorate the occasion a number of events were also organised.
16 Corps was raised on June Ist, 1972 on the banks of Tawi river at Nagrota. In the last four decades since its raising, the White Knight Corps has grown to become the largest and operationally the most vibrant force.
The Corps is operationally committed in pursuit of guarding and maintaining the sanctity of the Line of Control and combating militancy. It is also actively involved in various developmental programmes aimed at improving the living condition and overall development of the general region and the people.
