SRINAGAR, Sept 19: The State Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here this morning, condemned the production and telecast of blasphemous film on Holy Prophet describing it an attempt to hurt the sentiments of people and disturb international peace and détente.
Sharing the sentiments and concern of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the film released by an extremist and made available on net, the Cabinet observed the act as provocative, unethical and against the religious and human sentiments.
The Cabinet further observed that the fringe elements behind this anti-Islamic blasphemous work possess only motive to wedge apart different sections of the society and create hatred. “People should see through the designs of such elements and remain calm while expressing their anger”, the Cabinet maintained.
Showing serious concern over such attempts by vested interests to hurt the feelings and sentiments of people, Chief Minister said that such acts should be denounced and condemned by all. “We share the feelings and grief of the people and condemn the act vehemently”, he added and appealed the people to maintain calm and not to get provoked, as the people behind this anti-social and anti-human act want to disturb peace and create disturbance.
Omar said that Government has done all that was possible and has taken up the matter at the highest level at Centre to bring perpetrators of such acts to the logical conclusion.
Meanwhile, Cabinet accorded approval to the proposal pertaining to re-designation of the Rural Development Department as the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Now, Minister Incharge Rural Development will be Minister Incharge Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Administrative Secretary, Rural Department will be Administrative Secretary of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
The Cabinet also put seal of approval on the proposal of Revenue Department for transfer of State land measuring 256 kanals and 11 marlas situated in village Chowadi in favour of Home Department for establishment of a Battalion Headquarters.
It also accorded approval to the regularization of last tranche of 26 left out treachers of erstwhile Falah-I-Aam Trust working in the Education Department.
Sources said that in the Cabinet meeting, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla vociferously raised the issue of regularization of unauthorized colonies in Jammu and Srinagar cities and stressed that Housing and Urban Development Department should immediately start the exercise in consultation with the Revenue Department.
Following his concern, the Chief Minister directed the Housing and Urban Development Department to begin an exercise in this regard and come up with the formal proposal for discussion in the Cabinet.
The Revenue Minister also stressed the need for disbursal of funds under BSUP scheme among the deserving urban poor population.
