Indian Red Cross Society holds free diabetes awareness camp

JAMMU, June 6: Indian Red Cross Society, region Jammu organized a free diabetes detection/ awareness camp at Canal Road Walkway for check-up of sugar fasting/blood pressure of the morning walkers, today.
The camp was organized to make the people aware of the growing effects of diabetes keeping in view, the increase in the patients of diabetes during the last few years as the number of 32 millions in 2000 has increased the double at 63 millions in 2013.
In the camp more than 100 persons were checked for the blood sugar and blood pressure by the Senior Technician of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu region and Dr Lucky Gupta, Sr Pediatrics Surgeon from ASCOMS Hospital, Batra, Jammu.
The morning walkers also appreciated the efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu region for creating awareness about the fast spreading disease because of change of the life style of the people at large and organizing such camp in the early hours of the morning from 5.30 am onwards.
