JAMMU, June 9: A teenage girl, who went missing today from his residence at Krishna Nagar (Jammu), allegedly jumped into Chenab river in the Akhnoor area on the city outskirts here.
“Vijay Kumar of Krishna Nagar, Jammu this afternoon lodged a complaint with the police that his daughter identified as Samantha (19), a student of BA Part-I, this morning left for college and at around 10: 40 am, she called at home and told parents to check her mark sheet,’’ police here said.
They said the girl told them that she will return home late and thereafter send a message on her brother’s Whatsapp asking him to read a letter she had left at home as per which the girl had gone to Akhnoor.
Police further said, “During the search of her school bag, a pair of sandals, duppata and umbrella were found near the bank of Chenab river near guest house and it seems that she might had jumped into the river.’’
“We have registered a case and started the investigations while the search is in progress,’’ police added.
