JAMMU, June 9: The activists of Pradesh Mahila Congress today held strong protest demonstration against the water and power crisis in Jammu and adjoining areas.
A large number of women workers of the party led by State Mahila Congress president, Indu Pawar ( Ex-MLA) assembled near Press Club here in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were carrying empty pitchers to mark their protest against the PHE Department for its alleged failure to provide adequate water supply to the general public during these hot summer days. They were shouting loud slogans against even the PDD authorities for unscheduled power cuts.
While addressing Mahila workers, Indu Pawar alleged that people of Jammu are crying for the last three weeks against the long power cuts during these hot summer days. The students and traders are also suffering badly due to power crisis. There is no one to listen to their woes. The Ministers and MLAs are enjoying cool weather in Kashmir. The public representatives are not coming to the rescue of the suffering public.
Several other senior Mahila Congress workers including Suman Choudhary (Distt president-U), Vandana Makhnotra- secretary, Sushma Choudhary (Distt president -R), Reeta State secretary, Geeta Dogra, Santosh Sharma, Bhupinder Kour also addressed the gathering.
