Working towards implementing political, developmental vision of Mufti: CM

ANANTNAG: Reiterating her resolve to carry forward the mission and vision of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will continue its struggle to seek resolution of multiple problems faced by the State on all fronts.

“PDP has established clear political priorities and we would continue our struggle to seek resolution of the multiple problems faced by Jammu and Kashmir on political, economic, developmental, administrative and financial fronts,” Ms Mufti said while addressing a series of roadside public meetings during day-long campaigning for bypoll to Anantnag assembly segment, where she is one of the eight candidates.

A win in this bypoll is very crucial for Ms Mufti who is seeking to become a member of the State Assembly within the mandatory period of six months of her swearing-in as Chief Minister in April. The Anantnag seat became vacant following the death Sayeed in a Delhi hospital in January this year.

Ms Mufti, who is also the president of PDP, said the party began its journey in 1999 under the visionary leadership of Sayeed to transform the monopolistic political discourse in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The party established clear political priorities for itself and focused on them relentlessly to pull the State out of the morass of instabilities and uncertainties plaguing it for the past more than six decades,” she said, adding that with the unflinching support of the people, PDP has emerged as a premier regional political force within a short span of 16 years.
